Bunkhouses and Cabins
Bunkhouse
Budget bunk-style accommodation, 8 people maximum. Basic cooking facilities, towels and bedding supplied. Uses caravan park bathrooms and laundry. Ideal for camping groups who require a self-contained kitchen area or shelter from inclement weather. Please note that a minimum booking of 2 nights is required
Gillii Cabins
Budget twin rooms: towels and bedding supplied. Situated in the Caravan Park, using caravan park amenities.
Camping is only permitted in designated areas at the Caravan Park and along the adjacent Wywhyana Creek camping area, because of the impact such activity would have on wildlife and the environment. Swimming in waterholes is absolutely prohibited. The waterholes tend to be very saline and often stagnant with only a fine layer of fresh water. The animals rely on this layer of fresh water. In addition, pollution of water by skin products can harm reptiles.
Campers – please bring as much drinking water as is practical as you will be unable to fill water tanks with rainwater. Arkaroola and a number of places further north have limited potable water.
There are no dump facilities at the Arkaroola Camping Grounds – the nearest is at Copley, 130 km to the east.
Arkaroola does not provide nor sell firewood. Please collect all your firewood responsibly. Hollow logs and branches are an important source of shelter and food for wildlife so choose only solid material. Termites in the wood are an essential food for echidnas and other wildlife so try to avoid collecting such material. Thank you.
All tracks and roadways within the Arkaroola Wilderness Sanctuary, including those in and around the caravan park and camping areas, are public roads and the provisions of the Road Traffic Act (SA) and Motor Vehicles Act (SA) apply regarding the wearing of seatbelts and the wearing of protective helmets when riding bicycles.
