Arkaroola has higher summer temperatures are usually accompanied by low Relative Humidity – what we call a ‘clearer heat’ which is more bearable than the high temperatures and humidity experienced in coastal centres.
You can expect tops of 35-40°C in summer months. We recommend bringing a hat, sunscreen and light coloured clothing if visiting in warmer months (please contact us for availability as we may be closed during the peak of summer). Arkaroola’s January mean minimum is about 20°C, only slightly warmer than Sydney (at 18.6°C) and Adelaide at 16.8°C.
During the dead of winter (July), Arkaroola’s mean minimum is about 3.2°C – but more often than not the sun will be shining brightly during the day with a top of about 18°C. In winter bring warm layers that you can take off and put on as required.
Arkaroola often receives more rain from thunderstorms during summer than winter. Perfect one day, even better the next!? Winter is generally dry and clear. Great weather for a bushwalk or 4WD tour.
Generally Arkaroola has a dry climate. If you are lucky enough to visit when it rains you will experience the desert coming alive and may even see our staff very excited as this is a rare and welcomed occurrence. Arkaroola has an average of just 29.3 days per year where rainfall is over 1mm!
